Creative Strategist

At Darkroom, our Strategists uncover cultural insights that surface meaningful opportunities for brands to speak to human problems while solving business problems. They create detailed, yet simple presentations that tell stories and provide recommendations that contribute to the strategic direction of client work.

The Strategist learns the standard of great work and how to make it happen. This position interfaces with the Creative, Production, Design, and Account teams while moving forward with assigned projects and briefs on designated accounts. The Strategist begins to interact directly with clients and take more ownership of the brief and research process.

What You’ll Do:

  • Understand clients’ business goals and form campaign strategies that will achieve those goals
  • Determine asset deliverable requirements for production shoots and creative execution
    • Create omni-channel communication strategies
    • Create brand strategy on specific campaigns
  • Work with a producer and creative director on each project to execute key deliverables around creative and content strategy
  • Be the distiller who can transform a beautiful, collaborative mess into an inspiring and brave brand strategy/charter/disruption road map that unlocks creative and commercial growth for brands
    • Build trusted relationships with clients to become an indispensable strategic partner and go-to brand visionary
    • Uncover truly amazing creative ideas and frame strategic opportunities for creatives to do their best work in the agency
    • Guide research initiatives and partner with clients to ensure research and testing initiatives support the agency’s work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the agency processes and how to move work through the organization
  • Write compelling and insightful strategic briefs, without much oversight
  • Facilitate quantitative and qualitative research and analyze findings
  • Own the brief and begin to own more of the strategic and creative process
  • Actively participate in client deliverables, for both creation and presentation
  • Build rapport with internal and external teams and develop basic client management and presentation skills

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

  • 5+ years of agency or in-house creative / strategy experience required
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy and creative development is required
  • Excellence at extending a brand experience across multiple channels, including web, mobile and native applications. Experiential, physical, and voice are a plus.
  • Experience working in a variety of industries including fashion, retail, CPG, financial, health& wellness, etc...
  • Experience managing and giving feedback to creatives and producers on projects preferred
  • Direct client interaction experience with the ability to build relationships, understand client vision/direction and present designs and concepts is required
  • Adobe Creative Suite, Figma (or Sketch) should be core elements of your toolkit (encouraged)
  • Strong experience using research to help understand the problem, test concepts and communicate experiences to internal teams and clients.
  • Risk-taking in concepting — pushing past the obvious, and making something you love
  • Desire to master the craft of storytelling
